Mid Wales coast & mountains
(1 night)

Route overview

This route is the best of Mid Wales with a ride through valleys, over mountain passes and along the side of reservoirs and rivers before ending up on the Ceredigion coast for fishing villages and coastal towns before the overnight spot by the sea. We then head a little further north before turning south back down through the centre of Wales and towards the border.

Mountain pass road

Day one.

Starts on the A470 as we head north towards Brecon before heading onto the smaller mountain roads and heading off the beaten track to track north west through valleys and past reservoirs before emerging onto the Ceredigion coast where we follow the coastline enjoying the views and dolphin spotting as we head to the overnight spot within Cardigan Bay. With the right weather, the views are outstanding in this section of Wales.

Day two.

We head north and then south east, and into the mountains, past lakes and flowing rivers before reaching towards the edge of the Shropshire hills before heading south back towards Abergavenny and then onto the M4 where the route ends.

It all takes place on tarmac roads but we look to use only the smaller A and minor lanes for the routes.
